We have a camp of nearly thirty men here. We’ve got nine so ill they cannot walk, with no surgeon to tend them. We’ve but two able-bodied lieutenants for the lot of us. None of us speaks the Netsilik tongue. None has been in the polar regions before. To restore our best chance of survival, we must restore our captain. Surely that is plain.
